The ambiance is just brilliant. It reminded me of a hotel in Barcelona, except that resto was sea facing. The outdoor seating area was very eclectic and extremely well done. It also doubles up as their performance area at night I was told by the waiter. The menu is very interesting and it talks about traveling and has the dishes by the side. Generally well done with the interiors and gimmicks.
We ordered a cold mezze platter and a pizza for starters. The hummus was pretty nice, but certainly not the best in town. The baba ganoush was actually very nice and the hung curd made up the trio. However I loved their pita bread, really soft with the pocket and baked to perfection. The chicken pizza with paprika and feta was quite awesome, it looked like wood fire baked pizza but apparently it is not. It was quite close to the pizza at Tuscana and that is my favorite pizza joint.
I had a grilled prawn Mille something which was the best dish of the afternoon. It was an amazing dish served wit polenta and it was just finger licking good. The red paste on the prawn was heavenly and I would have preferred herbed rice as I don't like polenta, but it was quite a dish. My friend ordered a lamb pepperoni sandwich ( which is in a separate menu and served between 4 and 7 pm and we were there at 345) the sandwich was quite nice, served with baked potatoes and coleslaw. But I wonder how many will eat a sandwich for Rs. 300 between 4 and 7 pm?!?!? For dessert we shared a chai baked yogurt which was very different and I kind of liked it.
The food is pre plated, so if you try sharing, you will probably feel that the quantity is too little. This is a fine dining place and the main course, though looks small, will be just right for one person. Service is polite and attentive. Prices are quite high, with the main courses being priced around 500, but yeah this is fine dining and is expected. Let's hope they re able to maintain this quality though I am not too sure if the market for fine dining exists outside of star hotels in chennai. Apparently they have some live event going on every night.
