Sunday Brunches are meant to be bingeful, so a brunch titled bingeful I thought was over stressing it. Nope, the sheer size of the brunch at Hilton is worthy of the title. Vasco's, the all day diner at Hilton is blessed with multiple seating areas. Besides the outdoor seating directly, the Vintage Bar also doubles up if you're keen on a more casual seating. But the brunch, is all about the size.
The plated appetisers are enough to get you to a great start. With almost a dozen choices, the visual display makes it look bigger than it already is, so don't be surprised if you're full just looking at the set up. The stand out dish from this counter was the pineapple coconut shooter. 3 helpings, if you must know!
Cold Cuts. Yeah baby. Hanging on the counter is a visually pleasing (for a meat lover at least), display of cold cuts, but I totally did not expect to find mussels and cold prawns on the side. Since you make your own combinations, don't blame anyone else for misses. I quite liked the prawns and some ham. While I'm not a fan of mussels at all, see it elevated the brunch already.
Sushi. A large counter dedicated for sushi and something I would definitely skip. While it wasn't terrible, it was bordering on it. Actually, it was terrible. Sushi in a buffet is an art and is very very different from doling out sushi with the diner in front of you, which by the way, is also extremely difficult. With so much more to enjoy, the sushi counter was fail.
The Asian counter brought the zing back on to the brunch. Lovely dim sums and the prawn dim sum was quite meaty. While I loved the vegetarian bao, I surely think there should have been a chicken version too. Besides the dim sums, the Malaysian friend chicken was my pick from this counter.
The continental counter was mini version compared to the rest. A few dishes thrown in here and there, a lovely crepe that stood out and the Chicken Machboos stood out like a sore thumb in that counter.
Move over to the Indian section and dishes were excellent both in terms of choice and flavour. A lovely dhal, a beautiful poriyal for your rice course if you didn't fancy the sea food biriyani as much. There is a grill and chat section outside that we largely skipped, except for a couple of grilled prawns that didn't stand out.
Dessert section is huge and extremely well done with a fantastic mix of western and Indian desserts. Kala Jamun and Raj Bhog stood out in the Indian section while the coconut cake took the honours from the western stable.
Where is the breakfast part in the brunch? Well, besides the large bread section, nothing catches your eye, but if you ask you could get some waffles and pancakes. We didn't bother, but I really think, the sushi counter could be replaced by a breakfast dishes section to truly make this a Bingeful Brunch from the Bingeful Lunch that it currently its.
